Course Description:
This course is geared towards those who want to put their knowledge of web design into practice by working on real projects. Students will design for real clients or simulated projects to create complete portfolio pieces and improve their skills.
What will be studied:
Introduction to design work
- How to work with clients and define requirements.
- Developing a project strategy: analyzing competitors and target audience.
- Exploring business objectives and their impact on design.
Requirements gathering and planning
- How to collect and systematize information from the client.
- Developing a project timeline and assigning tasks.
- Creating the terms of reference and structure of the website.
Concept and wireframe creation
- Developing the design concept, including mood boards and user personas.
- Creation of wireframes (wireframe layouts) for all main pages.
- Selection of color scheme, fonts and other visual elements.
UI/UX design and prototyping
- Creating interactive prototypes using Figma or Adobe XD.
- Integrating custom scripts and user path maps.
- Working with feedback and iteration: how to improve design with feedback in mind.
Adaptive and mobile design
- Designing for different devices: mobile, tablets and desktops.
- Using Flexbox and CSS Grid to create flexible, adaptive layouts.
- Principles of mobile-first and responsive design.
Development process: from design to coding
- Interaction with developers: handing over mockups and documentation.
- Transforming the design into a working product using HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
- Testing on various devices and browsers to ensure cross-browser compatibility.
Working with real customers (or simulations)
- Students will work on real projects that simulate working with customers.
- Presenting their design to customers and making adjustments based on their requests.
- Working in a team and gaining experience interacting with other designers and developers.
Final project and portfolio
- Developing a complete design for a real client or fictional case study.
- Creating a portfolio to show to potential employers or clients.
- Presenting the work and getting feedback from the instructor and peers.
